In 2016 I initiated a routine of recording a five-minute improvised piece at the start of my daily practice, before engaging in the more structured, directed activities that form much of a musician's work. It is an exercise in pure, uninhibited creation, intended to help me touch base every day with that pure, egoless centre from which, I believe, transcendent art arises. To record this activity heightens the energy surrounding the creative act, simulating the experience of performance, wherein expression finds a reverberation chamber in the ears and hearts of other people.

Yet recording is unlike true, unmediated performance, as the audience in this case is an imagined one--or perhaps more accurately, a potential one--the artist having exported the work for limitless listenings beyond the initial performance. By knowing that each performance will take on a life of its own after the initial moment of creation, the work itself changes, and becomes the cathartic, expressive experience that I intended from this activity.

For this reason, I am really delighted to release these personal vignettes into the digital atmosphere where they may be experienced by anyone who finds them. Each episode is an honest attempt at selfless music-making, ostensibly made for its own sake (and for mine), but I hope you may find some quality in them that speaks to your own experience of trying to be honest in a sometimes disingenuous social landscape.

Each track includes the date on which it was recorded and its number in the sequence of recordings I have made with this intention. Each was named after the fact (for some character in them that wanted naming) but improvised with no clear extra-musical content in mind.
