My third volume of improvisations recorded as part of a ritual of spontaneous music creation.

The more I perform this activity and release the resulting recordings, the more the experience of doing it changes. Now that I am very conscious of the fact that every note I play when I sit down to do this will be available for the world to hear, I've discovered a new kind of self-consciousness that, while challenging, has been a joy to work through.

Having spent a lot of time listening to the last two volumes and reflecting on their construction, their themes and their logic (or lack thereof) I found myself trying to replicate what worked for them in each new improvised moment. I could feel myself reaching back for the creative successes of the past instead of forging ahead into the uncharted areas of my musical mind, effectively removing some of the improvisational aspects of these performances. It has been an unexpected lesson in creativity, and an immense pleasure, to be constantly learning how not to get in my own way when constructing a piece of spontaneous music.
